“GOATS ARE OUR KIDS! We share our kids.”
We, John & JeanAnn Carrigan are the proud parents of Annie, Molly, Carly, Fiona, Joey, Frankie, Rayne, & Blaze (the goats) and Maggie, Imperial Shih Tzu.
Growing up on Iowa farms, we developed a love for animals and acquired extensive experience in animal husbandry. Married over forty-five years, God provided us with four-legged kids instead of two. Our lives have revolved around furry kids. When we both retired from the corporate world in 2009, that love led us to open Ms C’s Bed & Biscuits, a canine resort. After twelve years of caring for other’s “kids,” it was time to relax. In September 2021, we retired from the canine industry and started "Maggie's Goats" which brings love, laughter, and fun to our lives. We desire to share that enjoyment of life with others by bringing our goats to your events.
Back in the spring of 2020, during the pandemic shutdown, our first goats arrived. The goats became the happy notes in life that we all needed. We fell in love! People and goats have had a symbiotic relationship for more than ten centuries. Humans offer safety and companionship, goats provide emotional support and sustenance.
We chose to raise “Nigerian Dwarf” goats due to their size and fun personalities. For us, their main purpose is being “our kids”. They are extremely smart, curious, and social animals. They have defined personalities and emotional awareness. We make a lifelong commitment to them.
Our goats' well-being comes first. We keep our herd small to make sure they get the love and attention they deserve. Many of our goats are fully grown, between 40 to 50 lbs. We restrict the number of babies born yearly, keeping almost all of our kids. Our little boys are neutered and kept as fun, loving, happy pets, not as breeders. We have baby goats in the Spring. They too grow up, bringing fun and joy daily to everyone. They love getting attention from new people and exploring new stimuli. They are never harmed or exploited. When they are at any event, they are under our constant care.
Our dream is to bring the delight of “our kids” to everyone! We founded Maggie’s Goats Events Center to share how goats elevate one’s spirit with laughter, help one live in the moment, and quickly become a friend! It’s a place where people find wholesome family entertainment. Sharing our goats with the public is good for both the goats and people.
We will bring our kids to you, at your locale. Our goats are happy to attend birthday parties, family reunions, weddings, and corporate gatherings. You dream it, our goats will attend, dressed appropriately. We are grateful for the opportunity to expand their world beyond a pasture and barn.
Spending some time with these sweet creatures of God will melt away your stress and take your mind off of all the craziness of day-to-day life. They will bring laughter and amusement to all. We are in the “memory-making business” and we hope to continue that passion for years to come! We look forward to brightening your day.
